The MERGE sign may be placed upstream of a point where two roadways converge, and where traffic on these roadways is moving in the same direction of travel and must merge into one lane. The Oversize Version (WA-116) should be used on roads of 3 lanes or more and/or a posted speed limit of 70 km/h or greater. The Special Oversize version (WA-1116) should be used on freeways and where the posted speed is 90 km/h or greater.
